DSIP peptide: Cognitive / Neuro research guide
In short: DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood, studied for its association with delta-wave sleep architecture and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis modulation. It is studied in preclinical (cell and animal) research and is supplied strictly for laboratory use, not for human or clinical use.
Not medical advice. DSIP is a research compound. This guide does not provide dosing, diagnosis, therapy recommendations, or claims about effects in humans.

What DSIP is
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a nine-amino-acid neuropeptide isolated from delta-wave sleep cerebral blood, studied for sleep architecture, stress-axis regulation, and neuroendocrine signalling.
One-paragraph overview from our research datasheet. Still scientific, but faster to read than the full mechanism list below.

Research contexts
Peer-reviewed papers discuss DSIP in specific lab settings. The points below reflect research questions, not health claims.
Research vs. personal use: Literature describes experiments in cells and animals. That is distinct from real-world use. Our products are for laboratory research only.
Typical study contexts
Stress, sleep and neuronal signalling in rodents.
Some compounds appear in small exploratory human studies elsewhere. Still not DIY use.
Naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from delta-wave sleep cerebral blood (Schoenenberger & Monnier, 1977).
Studied for its association with delta-wave EEG architecture in sleep-laboratory models.
Investigated as a modulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal stress axis.
Examined in opioid-withdrawal and chronic-pain research models.
Why Cognitive / Neuro research matters
Cognitive-related peptides are explored for stress pathways and neuronal signalling in animals. Not treatments for human brain conditions.
Mechanisms (technical review)

Lab handling & preparation
Storage: Lyophilised powder: store in freezer (−20 °C). Reconstituted: refrigerate 1–6 °C, away from sunlight. Use within the validated stability window for the specific batch and formulation.. See the storage guide.
Research dosing context: Literature typically discusses 100–500 mcg subcutaneous or intranasal (research-protocol range reported in the literature). Once daily in short pulsed courses, typically in the evening in published sleep-research schedules DSIP is rapidly cleared: plasma half-life is reported in the order of minutes (commonly cited around 7–15 minutes), with extensive peptidase hydrolysis. No dedicated receptor has been identified, and human pharmacokinetic characterisation remains incomplete. Subcutaneous, intranasal and intravenous routes appear in the published literature; oral bioavailability is not established. These figures describe published research protocols and are not a dosing recommendation.
Preparation: Follow the reconstitution guide. Confirm volumes with the calculator.
Purity check: Use the COA reading guide and the published DSIP Certificate of Analysis.
Common Questions People Are Asking
What is DSIP used for in research?
DSIP is studied as a research tool in sleep architecture, stress-axis (HPA) regulation and neuroendocrine signalling. Published work spans delta-wave EEG effects, corticotropin and somatotropin release, opioid-withdrawal and chronic-pain models, and antioxidant activity - almost all in animal or cell-culture systems.
Why is it called "Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide"?
The name comes from its 1977 isolation: Schoenenberger and Monnier held rabbits in electrically induced delta-wave (deep, slow-wave) sleep and isolated a nine-residue peptide from their cerebral venous blood. Transferred to other animals, the fraction appeared to promote the same slow-wave pattern. The name records that founding observation rather than a proven mechanism.
How is DSIP proposed to work?
That remains genuinely unresolved. No dedicated DSIP receptor has ever been cloned, so the peptide is studied as a diffuse neuromodulator rather than a classical receptor agonist. Its documented effects on sleep EEG, the HPA axis and pituitary hormone release are best described as observed associations in animal models. One open puzzle is that its reported plasma half-life is only minutes while observed effects span far longer windows.
What is Emideltide, and did the FDA approve DSIP?
Emideltide is the designation used for DSIP in regulatory and compounding contexts. In July 2026 it was among the peptides reviewed by the FDA Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee for potential 503A Bulks List inclusion. That is a compounding-eligibility review - not a marketing approval, not a safety determination and not a clinical endorsement. DSIP remains an unapproved research compound.
How should DSIP be stored?
Keep the lyophilised powder frozen at −20 °C. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water or sterile saline, refrigerate at 1–6 °C and protect from light. As a small hydrophilic nonapeptide it tolerates standard peptide-handling conditions well within the normal usage window.
Is this page medical advice? Can I use DSIP for my health?
No, and no. This article is educational only. We do not provide dosing, medical recommendations, or health claims. Our products are sold strictly for laboratory research, not for personal use of any kind.
